Frontier is revealing Planet Zoo 2’s roster week by week through official Zoopedia updates, and as of mid-August 2026 the confirmed count stands at 62 base-game species plus 6 Deluxe Edition exclusives. The full launch total hasn’t been announced — Frontier’s own words: “We’ve still got lots of animals left to reveal.”

Spotted but NOT confirmed
The community has identified more species in trailer footage that Frontier hasn’t officially named. Treat all of these as unconfirmed:
- Eurasian Beaver — reported in the PC Gaming Show gameplay trailer
- African Elephant, Indian Elephant, Grizzly Bear, Blue Tang, Moorish Idol — community-compiled from trailers and screenshots
- Flamingos, additional rays and bears — speculation from screenshots and statue props only
Claims of a “250 species” launch roster circulating on YouTube are speculation — no total has been announced.
How the reveals work
Frontier’s Zoopedia went live on June 23, 2026 and gets weekly drops of roughly 7–10 species, alongside Animal Spotlights (African Leopard, Indo-Pacific Leopard Shark, Shoebill so far) and Feature Focus videos.
